Dehradun– The first IBBFF Partially Sighted National Blind Football Championship was held at the Center for Disability Sports Complex in Gwalior from March 24 to 26, 2025. A total of eight teams participated, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi. The championship, organized by the Blind Sports Association, Madhya Pradesh, was exclusively for visually impaired players in the B2 and B3 categories.
In the final match, Kerala defeated Odisha 2-0 to claim the championship title. Uttarakhand secured third place by defeating Tamil Nadu 5-3 in a penalty shootout. The Uttarakhand team was supported by the Uttarakhand Blind Sports Association. Anant Mehra, the association’s president, expressed his happiness over the team’s performance and praised coach Naresh Singh Nyal for his dedicated efforts.
The Uttarakhand team comprised captain Deepak Singh Rawat, Gambhir Singh Chauhan, Satendra, Deepanshu Paliwal, Krishna Kant, Ayush Soni, goalkeeper Vipin Rana, and Sagar Arya. Notably, Gambhir Singh Chauhan emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with 14 goals, earning the “Top Scorer of the Tournament” award. The players underwent rigorous training at the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities while managing their academic commitments.
