An encounter between security forces and terrorists is underway in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, where two terrorists have been killed so far. The operation, launched in the Gudder forest area, also saw the sacrifice of an Indian Army soldier, while two others sustained injuries. The gunfight erupted after terrorists opened fire during a search operation, prompting retaliation by the forces.
According to Kashmir Zone Police, the operation is being jointly carried out by Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and CRPF’s Special Operations Group. A junior commissioned officer was among those injured and has been shifted to hospital for treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the forest area to prevent any escape, and the operation is still in progress.
