Kumbh 2027: CM Dhami Reviews Preparations, Promises Grand and Divine Event in Haridwar

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to ensure that all permanent works for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2027 are completed by October 2026. Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, he said the government’s top priority is to organize a grand and divine Kumbh, with projects planned on the basis of an expanded master plan.

The CM instructed departments to work in coordination, focusing on crowd management, new and expanded ghats, removal of encroachments, and timely completion of infrastructure such as the Bahadrabad–Shyampur bypass. He also emphasized preparing tent zones in Shyampur, Gendikhata, and Chandighat, along with strengthening internal roads for both devotees and residents.

Dhami said waste management would follow a zero-waste model, with adequate dustbins, recycling systems, mobile toilets, pink toilets for women, and 24-hour cleaning at ghats. Safety measures will include lifeguards, security ropes, and motorboats at all ghats. The CM also directed that staff be trained to treat devotees with respect to ensure a positive experience.

The plan includes better traffic and parking systems, shuttle services from distant parking lots, IT-based management, real-time information apps, helplines, and digital service centers. Health facilities will feature temporary hospitals, ambulances, and mobile medical teams.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Madan Kaushik, Premchand Aggarwal, Adesh Chauhan, Renu Bisht, Ravi Bahadur, Anupama Rawat, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, DGP Deepak Seth, senior officials, and mela authorities. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and IG Rajeev Swaroop also joined virtually.
