Pauri: Woman Mauled to Death by Leapord While Grazing Goats

A tragic incident occurred in Halasi village under Gram Panchayat Jawar, Dwarikhal block of Pauri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand, where a 34-year-old woman was killed in a leopard attack. The victim, Lata Devi, wife of Jaiveer Singh, was grazing goats near her home when the leopard, hiding in nearby bushes, pounced on her on Sunday evening.

Rajesh Miya, former village head of Jawar, informed that the big cat attacked Lata Devi suddenly, inflicting fatal injuries to her neck. Hearing her screams, family members rushed to the spot but by the time they arrived, she had succumbed to her injuries.

The incident has spread panic in the region. Revenue and forest officials were immediately alerted. Paukhal area’s Kanungo Rakesh Dabral and Patwari Kanta Prasad rushed toward the village. Lansdowne Forest Division’s DFO Akash Gangwar and Dugadda Range Officer Umesh Chandra Joshi are also reaching the site with their teams to investigate and assess the situation.

Forest officials have initiated necessary protocols, and efforts are underway to monitor leopard activity in the area to prevent further incidents.
