Elderly Woman Attacked by Leopard in Tehri’s Lambgaon, Referred to Higher Cent

An elderly woman sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a leopard while cutting grass near the police station in Lambgaon, Tehri. She was given primary treatment at CHC Chaund and later referred to the higher center in Baurari.

According to reports, the incident occurred around noon when Meena Devi (55), wife of Madan Singh Panwar, along with Sharda Devi, had gone to cut grass near Majiyali Tok. Suddenly, a leopard lurking nearby pounced on Meena Devi. Hearing her screams, Sharda Devi bravely intervened, creating a commotion that forced the leopard to retreat. The terrified women left their sickles and ropes behind and ran towards the police station for help.

Family members rushed the injured woman to CHC Chaund, where doctors confirmed deep claw wounds on her hand. After primary treatment, she was referred to a higher medical center. Upon receiving information, a forest department team reached the hospital.

Ranger Harshram Uniyal stated that immediate assistance has been provided for the woman’s treatment. A six-member patrol team has been deployed in the area to prevent further incidents. Locals have been advised to avoid venturing out alone, especially children, and to stay in groups for safety.
