Rudraprayag- The sacred Himalayan shrine of Madmaheshwar, known as the second Kedar in Rudraprayag district, has officially closed its gates for the winter season with full religious rituals. The temple, beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, witnessed the presence of over 350 devotees along with officials from BKTC, the forest department, and the local administration.
The temple gates were closed at 8 AM on Tuesday during an auspicious time of Margashirsha Krishna Chaturdashi under Swati Nakshatra. Prior to the closure, devotees offered prayers in the early hours. After the rituals, the naturally formed Shivling was ceremonially covered and placed in a samadhi form in the presence of BKTC CEO and Executive Magistrate Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, BKTC member Prahlad Pushpwan and Panch-Gaundari Hak-Hakookdharis.

Following the traditional procedure, the ceremonial idol (chal-vigrah doli) of Lord Madmaheshwar, accompanied by dhol-damau, began its journey towards Gaundar after completing temple circumambulation and store inspection.
