Man dies under suspicious circumstances at de-addiction centre in Raipur area

A 38-year-old man admitted to a de-addiction centre in the Raipur police station area died under suspicious circumstances after his health suddenly deteriorated. Police have started an investigation following complaints raised by the deceased man’s family.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Neeraj Kumar Verma. He was admitted to a de-addiction centre located in the Tapasthali Ranjhawala area. His mother, Roshni Devi, a resident of Tapovan Road, informed the police about her son’s death and sought a detailed inquiry.

Police officials said that Neeraj’s health worsened suddenly while he was at the centre. The staff initially shifted him to a nearby hospital for treatment. As his condition became critical, he was later referred to Mahant Indresh Hospital for advanced medical care.

Despite treatment at the higher medical centre, Neeraj did not survive. After receiving information from the family, Raipur police conducted a post-mortem examination of the body to determine the cause of death.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. The police have also taken the DVR containing CCTV footage from the de-addiction centre into custody to examine the events leading up to the incident.

The family has demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances of Neeraj’s death, raising concerns over the care and monitoring at the de-addiction centre.
