Mandatory Verification for Vendors and External Laborers in Chamoili’s Ulangra Village

Verification of vendors and laborers

Following the examples of Ukhimath in Rudraprayag and Katoor and Maanda villages in Tehri, the villagers of Ulangra in Dewal, Chamoli district, have implemented a mandatory verification system for vendors and external laborers. In a meeting held by the villagers, it was decided that no vendor or laborer will be allowed to enter the village without proper verification.

A signboard announcing this decision has been placed at the village entry point, warning that anyone violating this rule will face a fine of ₹500. The village head, Anshi Devi, chaired the meeting on Saturday, where concerns were raised about the increasing influx of outsiders into the village without any checks or restrictions.

Criminal Involvement of Outsiders in Recent Incidents

Recent theft incidents in the village have revealed the involvement of outsiders. As a result, the villagers have emphasized the need for mandatory verification of all vendors and laborers entering the village.

The decision mandates that hawkers, vendors, and laborers must present valid identification documents for verification. Anyone failing to do so will not be permitted to enter the village.
