Over 7000 members of youth and women’s Mangal Dals across Uttarakhand will soon receive opportunities for self-employment. Following a meeting held at the National Sports Secretariat on Monday, Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya shared this information. She stated that the roles of youth and women’s Mangal Dals will be expanded, and they will be invited to submit proposals for employment projects. After scrutiny, selected proposals will receive financial assistance from the department. The Minister directed officials to submit the final proposal within a week.
The meeting also addressed issues faced by over 2800 PRD jawans deployed for Char Dham Yatra duty. Rekha Arya emphasized resolving challenges faced by PRD jawans stationed at high altitudes. District Youth Welfare Officers from various districts, who joined the meeting online, were asked to provide suggestions. The department plans to equip PRD personnel working at higher elevations with boots, jackets, raincoats, and waterproof tents. The Minister also instructed officials to complete preparations for the upcoming Khel Mahakumbh without delay.
Special Principal Secretary of Sports Amit Sinha, Sports Director Prashant Arya, Deputy Director Shakti Singh, and other officials were present at the meeting.

Minister Rekha Arya inspected The Himadri Ice Rink –
Separately, Minister Rekha Arya inspected the restoration work of the Himadri Ice Rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College. She informed that India’s and South Asia’s first ice rink has been successfully revived and is expected to be ready for competitions within a week. The department has already received proposals to host national-level competitions, with one or two events likely to be held within the next one to one and a half months.
