Roorkee, December 10, 2024: A tragic accident occurred in Mangalore Kotwali area of Roorkee when a wedding car lost control and overturned on the highway between Mangalore and Salier. The incident claimed the lives of two youths on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries and were referred to a higher medical center. The joyful wedding celebration turned into mourning within moments.
The accident happened around 12:30 PM on Tuesday. Four youths, including Gulshair and Arshad, were traveling from Tanda Bhaneda village to Padli Gurjar as part of a wedding procession. As their car reached the highway, it suddenly went out of control, flipping several times before coming to a stop near the divider.
Eyewitnesses rushed to the scene and alerted the Mangalore Kotwali police. Police officials promptly arrived and transported the injured to Roorkee Civil Hospital, where doctors declared Gulshair and Arshad dead on arrival. Due to the severity of injuries, the other two youths were referred to a higher medical facility for further treatment.
The accident’s news plunged the wedding festivities into sorrow, with relatives and guests gathering in large numbers at the hospital. Grieving family members were inconsolable. Kotwali in-charge Shanti Kumar confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem. Preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by the car losing control on the highway.
