Mussoorie: St. George’s College, Mussoorie, held its Annual Athletics Meet 2025 on October 17 with great enthusiasm and school spirit. The event was graced by Chief Guest Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, and alumnus of the 1981 batch. Dr. Parvinderjit Singh Khanuja, a 1975 alumnus and Founder of Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers, USA, attended as Guest of Honour.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished alumni, members of the Alumni Association, Patrician Brothers, parents, and faculty members. Principal Brother Jeyaseelan S welcomed the gathering, followed by the hoisting of House Flags and an energetic March Past by athletes. The traditional torch relay and performances by the School Brass Band and junior students added to the day’s vibrancy.
Track and field events, gymnastics, and fun races showcased the athletic excellence of the students. The event also marked the participation of the Golden Jubilee (1975), Ruby Jubilee (1985), Silver Jubilee (2000), and Decadian (2015) batches, adding nostalgia to the celebration.
Chief Guest Sanjay Kumar, in his address, reminisced about his school days and encouraged students to develop reading habits and a spirit of curiosity. The dignitaries were presented with mementos as tokens of appreciation.
Among the major winners, Aarav Roongta won the Brother Cummins Cup for Feet of Strength and the Brother Smyth Cup for Discus Throw. Mohammad Ateeb bagged the Brother Trinidade Cup for Best Sprinter and the Niranjan Alwa Cup for Fastest Athlete of the Day. Aarush Dang and Krishna Raghuvanshi won top marathon titles in their respective divisions. The Brother AJ Fitz Patrick Cup for Best Athlete (Senior Division) was awarded to Mohammad Ateeb.
Marthins’ House emerged as the Overall Champion with 2071 points, followed by Gateley’s, Cullen’s, and Tapsell’s Houses. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by School Head Prefect Sagar Joshi and the singing of the School Song and National Anthem.
