Mayoral Candidates Present Development Plans in Program

A dialogue program under the aegis of the Citizen Forum in Dehradun saw mayoral candidates from various parties, including Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and independents, outline their priorities for the city’s development.

Congress candidate highlighted the potential of the Smart City project, envisioning it as a way to build a new Dehradun. Key promises included planting 250,000 trees annually, launching a de-addiction campaign, banning polythene, setting up complaint boxes in the municipal corporation, and pursuing justice in the Ankita Bhandari case.

AAP candidate Ravindra Singh Anand focused on opening a transgender complex, ensuring transparency in mohalla committees, and protecting the city from corruption.

Saurabh Thapliyal proposed developing parks and cycling tracks in every ward, establishing community centers, installing CCTV cameras and streetlights, and managing waste disposal effectively. He emphasized de-addiction programs and regularization of slum settlements.

Independent candidate Vijay Prasad raised objections over alleged discrimination, expressing dissatisfaction with being excluded from the discussions, which caused a minor disruption during the program.
