Following the suspension of Haridwar DM Karmendra Singh over a land scam, the Uttarakhand government has appointed IAS officer Mayur Dikshit as the new District Magistrate of Haridwar. Replacing Dikshit in Tehri, Nitika Khandelwal has been assigned as the new District Magistrate.
The move was expected after Karmendra Singh’s suspension, with several names being speculated for the key Haridwar post, including Kumbh Mela officer Sonika. However, the Department of Personnel and Vigilance issued official orders in the evening confirming Mayur Dikshit’s appointment.
Nitika Khandelwal, who was previously serving as Additional Secretary in the state secretariat, will now take charge as DM Tehri. She will also continue to handle the role of Director, Tehri Dam Rehabilitation Project.
Before this posting, Nitika was overseeing portfolios including Information Technology, Good Governance, Science & Technology, USAC (Uttarakhand Space Application Centre), and served as Managing Director of Hilltran.
