Medical officer arrested for taking bribe in Pauri district

Dehradun, 3 Nov: The Vigilance Establishment, Sector Dehradun, has arrested a medical officer red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The officer, Ashutosh Tripathi, who is posted as Medical Officer and In-charge at CHC Nainidanda, was caught by the vigilance trap team while accepting money from a nursing officer. The officer had allegedly demanded the bribe to keep the complainant posted at PHC Adalikhai.

After the arrest, a team from Vigilance Sector Haldwani searched the accused’s house and started an inquiry about his movable and immovable properties.

The Senior Superintendent of Police, PN Meena, Vigilance Establishment Headquarters, appreciated the team’s successful action and announced a cash reward of Rs 2,500 for them.

Officials have appealed to the public that, if any government employee demands a bribe or has illegal assets, they should report it to the Vigilance Department without fear.
