Migrants from Uttarakhand to Discuss State’s Future at Second Conference in Doon University

Uttarakhand – The second Uttarakhand Migrants Conference will be held on November 5 at Doon University, where participants from across India will review the state’s 25-year journey and discuss ways to shape its future. So far, 200 delegates have registered for the one-day event, with registration open until late night on October 24 through the Uttarakhand Migrant Cell’s website, www.pravasiuttarakhandi.uk.gov.in.

Started under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s direction in 2024, this annual conference aims to reconnect migrants with their home state and strengthen their role in Uttarakhand’s development. The first edition saw 200 participants from 17 states, and a higher turnout is expected this year.

According to Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, the event will begin at 10 a.m. at Doon University’s Nityanand Auditorium, where Chief Minister Dhami will inaugurate the conference. It will feature two sessions — the first focusing on environmental issues, led by PCCF S.P. Subudhi, and the second covering health, education, and women’s empowerment, headed by Doon University Vice Chancellor Prof. Surekha Dangwal.

Chief Minister Dhami will also hold a one-hour interactive session with the migrants to hear their suggestions for the state’s growth. Participants from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand have already confirmed their attendance. The event will conclude with a cultural program in the evening.
