Model Code of Conduct for Panchayat Elections Lifted in The State

The State Election Commission has announced the end of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) that was in force during the panchayat elections in 12 districts of Uttarakhand. State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar issued the order, confirming that the MCC, which came into effect on August 7 with the notification of the district and block panchayat polls, concluded on August 16.

Panchayat elections were held on July 24 and July 28 across 12 districts, excluding Haridwar. Counting of votes took place on July 31. In the district panchayat elections held on August 14, the BJP secured victories in 10 districts, while the Congress registered an unexpected win in Dehradun. Elections in Nainital were postponed following a High Court directive.
