Mussoorie – Tourists visiting Mussoorie will soon get relief as the Mall Road barrier is set to introduce Fastag entry, making vehicle movement quicker and more convenient. The proposal was approved during the Mussoorie Nagar Palika board meeting, where 35 out of 37 proposals received unanimous approval. The board also cleared the proposal to rename Hussainganj to Krishnanagar.
In the meeting chaired by Municipal President Meera Saklani, several major civic works were discussed. These include parking construction near Tehri Bus Stand and Civil Hospital, development and beautification of Mossy Falls, building an Anganwadi room on the roof of Jharipani Primary School, developing parking near Barloganj Sanatan Temple, and calling fresh tenders for the ropeway trolley operation. The board also agreed to issue a new e-tender for Library–Gadikhan car parking and to lease the museum cafeteria near the ropeway area at market rate, along with developing vending zones in various wards.
The board also approved proposals to revise rent for Mussoorie Filling Station, discuss lease terms for Om Filling Station, and allot nine vacant municipal shops in Kingreg to eligible applicants. A proposal to allocate 2.5 bigha land at Douglas Dale for a Sainik Vishram Grah was opposed by Councillor Sachin Guher. Discussion was also held on setting up a shelter house for street dogs and purchasing vehicles for waste management.
The issue of awarding municipal public toilets to two separate firms was raised, but the board agreed with the president’s proposal to assign all toilets to a single firm. Registration of stray cattle in the city was also discussed. The board decided that the ₹25 lakh reward received under Swachh Survekshan will be spent 50% on sanitation workers and 50% on solid waste management.
Other approved proposals include deployment of six linemen for street lighting, procurement of necessary material for Town Hall operations, purchase of a sky lift for municipal work, upgrading the municipal hall, installation of new boom barriers at Mall Road, and setting up Fastag and scanning cameras. The board also approved winter firewood purchases and installation of CCTV cameras across town. Diesel supply worth ₹13,79,807 for June–September 2025 was also approved.
Councillor Amit Bhatt raised concerns about lack of clarity from the Executive Officer regarding pending issues with the petrol pump. The meeting was attended by Councillors Pawan Thalwal, Pankaj Khatri, Ranveer Kandari, Babita Mall, Ruchita Gupta, Neetu Chauhan, Gauri Thapliyal, Vishal Kharola, and other officials including EO Tanveer Marwah, EO Rajneesh Dobriyal, and Office Superintendent Chandraprakash Badoni.
During the meeting, the board also passed a proposal to remove the large swing at Jhoolaghar. President Saklani stated that maintenance work for the Town Hall has been approved, as the MDDA-constructed building has suffered damage. EO Tanveer Marwah confirmed that Fastag service at both Mall Road barriers will begin within two months, and local residents will get passes, which is expected to increase municipal revenue.
