Mussoorie – Panic spread among employees of the State Bank of India (SBI) after its Kulri branch received a threatening email on Monday morning. The sender warned that unless all loans of Mussoorie residents were waived, the bank would be attacked on Tuesday, with cash and valuables looted.
Branch Manager Sachin Shah said the email arrived around 11 am and was also sent to SBI’s GNFC, Landour Cantonment, and LBSN branches. The message stated that all outstanding loans in Mussoorie must be cancelled, failing which the branches would be looted and set on fire. It also threatened harm to bank staff.
Shockingly, the email mentioned names of local figures, including Rajat Aggarwal, President of BJP Mussoorie Mandal; Jagjit Kukreja, General Secretary of Mussoorie Traders Association; and former BJP Mandal President Mohan Petwal. The sender further claimed that hired goons from Sahaspur would be brought in to carry out arson and violence.
Responding to the issue, Rajat Aggarwal, Jagjit Kukreja, and others clarified that they had no connection to the email, calling it an attempt to disturb peace in Mussoorie. They demanded strict police action against those responsible.
Mussoorie Kotwal Devendra Singh Chauhan confirmed that a formal complaint has been registered. He said the matter is being investigated seriously with assistance from the cyber cell to trace the origin of the email.
