The Uttarakhand High Court is set to hear a petition on alleged irregularities in the Nainital Zila Panchayat elections on Thursday. As per the court’s earlier directions, the State Election Commission will inform the bench about its decision in the matter.
Recently, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police of Nainital appeared before the State Election Commission to present their side regarding the conduct of the polls. Following this, the High Court instructed the commission to review the case and submit its decision before the court.
According to sources, the commission has already prepared and sent its opinion on the issue. However, the exact details of its decision will only be revealed during the court proceedings.
