Nayar River Floods After Heavy Rain, Kalgadi Bridge Collapses in Pauri

Continuous rainfall in Pauri has led to the collapse of the Kalgadi bridge on the Buakhalkhal-Ramnagar National Highway 121. This bridge was the only link connecting several villages in Thalisain and Pabo blocks with the district headquarters. Its collapse has completely severed access to these regions.

Due to persistent downpours throughout the day, the western Nayar River swelled beyond capacity, leading to the bridge’s collapse. Locals confirmed that the Kalgadi bridge served as the sole connection for both blocks to Pauri. Now, with the structure gone, residents are expected to face severe challenges in the coming days.

Social activists Surendra Nautiyal and Sanjay Nautiyal reported that the drinking water pipeline in Kothla village, under the Sanji Gram Sabha, has been completely damaged. Additionally, electricity and mobile networks have been down since Wednesday morning across the area. In Pabo block, several houses in Kalun and Kyard village of Khatsyun Patti are now at risk due to land instability. Affected families in Kyard have been relocated to the local primary school for safety.
