NCC Cadets Shine at Republic Day Camp Annual Horse Show

The Republic Day Camp Annual Horse Show, held at the 61 Cavalry Ground in Delhi Cantt, showcased the exceptional equestrian skills of NCC cadets. Forty senior division and 20 senior wing cadets impressed the audience with thrilling performances in tent pegging and show jumping events.

Under Officer Ansh Karnawat from Rajasthan Directorate and Junior Under Officer Vadlamudi Lokesh from Andhra Pradesh-Telangana Directorate were jointly awarded the Best Rider title. Among the girls, Sergeant Bhoomika Kanwar of Delhi Directorate emerged as the Best Rider, with Rajasthan Directorate’s Under Officer Swarnika Rathore as the runner-up. Senior Under Officer Harshit Singh from Uttar Pradesh Directorate received the Dr. Roop Jyoti Sharma Trophy, while Sergeant Vatandeep Singh from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh Directorate was honored with the DG RVS Trophy.

Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of NCC, presented the trophies and commended the cadets, emphasizing that equestrian training instills discipline, patience, and resilience essential for success. The event also featured a captivating band performance by cadets from Mizo High School, Aizawl.

Currently, NCC operates 20 equestrian units with 294 trained horses. In 2024, cadets won five gold, four silver, and one bronze medal in regional equestrian competitions, with three cadets qualifying for the Junior National Equestrian Championship.
