India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully tested the Nag Mk 2 missile on January 13 at the Pokhran Field Range. This third-generation anti-tank guided missile is based on the fire-and-forget technology, capable of precisely targeting and destroying enemy armor.
Nag Mk 2 Soon to Join Indian Army
According to the Defense Ministry, the missile demonstrated exceptional performance by destroying targets within both maximum and minimum ranges during three successful trials. The missile’s carrier version, NAMICA-2, was also tested under real-world conditions, paving the way for its induction into the Indian Army.
Developed at ₹300 Crore
The Nag Mk 2 missile has been developed by DRDO at a cost of ₹300 crore. Its initial test was conducted in 1990, followed by significant improvements in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The missile is part of DRDO’s Integrated Guided Missile Development Program and is expected to significantly enhance the combat capabilities of the Indian Army.
