Dehradun, 2 Nov: The Nomination Announcement Programme of the new State Council of the Indian Scouts and Guides Fellowship, Uttarakhand, was conducted with dignity and enthusiasm, upholding its values and traditions.
The event commenced with the soulful prayer “Daya Kar Daan Bhakti Ka”. To honour and extend a warm welcome, scarves were ceremoniously presented to the guests of the day — S. S. Chamoli, who graced the occasion as the Observer, and G. B. S. Sajwan, who adorned the dais as the Chief Guest. Both dignitaries are former Directors of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, NHQ, New Delhi.
Following the welcome, Dr. Daljeet Kaur, the President-in-Chief of the Fellowship, delivered an inspiring Presidential Address, highlighting the vision, objectives, and spirit of unity that guide the organisation’s activities. She mentioned the history of this organisation and shed light on its future aims, including sustainable development and abolishing orthodox social practices. Her words “Once a Scout, always a Scout” set the tone for cooperation and service in the times ahead. She further thanked the guests for their valuable contributions in bringing reforms to the organisation over the past decades.
Subsequently, the Secretary, Rajeev Sharma, presented a detailed Report, outlining the achievements and initiatives undertaken during the previous tenure. The report reflected the commitment and collective effort of all members in the year 2024-25; this list included events like a Cleanliness Drive, celebration of Yoga Day and Gandhi Jayanti, and providing aid to the victims of natural disasters at Dharali (Uttarkashi) and Tapkeshwar (Dehradun). He further mentioned that these efforts were appreciated by various organisations including the NDRF. Thereafter, Praveen Kumar Goyal, the Treasurer, presented the Financial Report, offering a transparent account of the Fellowship’s financial activities and stewardship.
The most awaited moment of the day came with the announcement of the new State Council Members, which was made by the Observer, S. S. Chamoli. This was followed by the Scouts and Guides Pledge Ceremony, led by Dr Daljeet Kaur, wherein all members reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of service, honesty, and brotherhood. The solemn atmosphere reflected the deep-rooted spirit of dedication within the organization.
