Nikki Murder Case Accused Injured in Police Encounter, Claims Innocence

In the Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Greater Noida, the prime accused in the Nikki murder case and her husband, Vipin Bhati, was injured in a police encounter near Sirsa crossing. Police said Vipin tried to escape custody by snatching a pistol from a sub-inspector and opened fire at the police team. In retaliation, police fired back, injuring him. He was immediately arrested and admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

According to police, Vipin was being taken for the recovery of the inflammable substance used in the crime when he attempted to flee. However, from the hospital bed, Vipin claimed innocence, saying, “I did nothing, she committed suicide. Disputes between husband and wife are not new.”

Earlier, Nikki was brutally killed in her in-laws’ house in Kasna area of Gautam Buddh Nagar over alleged dowry demands. She was beaten and set ablaze after being doused with inflammable liquid. Despite being rushed to two hospitals by her sister and neighbours, she succumbed to severe burn injuries during treatment.

Following the incident, Nikki’s family accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and murder. Police have assured strict legal action and further investigation is underway.
