Mussoorie, 6 Nov: A father died and his 14-year-old son was seriously injured in a tragic road accident on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Road on Wednesday morning. The two were on their way to Mussoorie to do some painting work when their bike suddenly went out of control and plunged into a 300-meter-deep ravine. The accident caused panic among the people nearby. Police were informed via 112. Upon receiving the information, the Kolhukhet outpost and Rajpur police station teams arrived at the scene with emergency equipment. The accident occurred near Galogi, where construction of a roadside embankment is underway. Upon arriving at the scene, the police team found that the Bajaj Platina bike, UK07-AB-7926, had fallen into a deep ravine while heading towards Mussoorie. A father and son were traveling on the motorcycle from Dehradun to Mussoorie.

During the fall, the child riding pillion was thrown from the motorcycle and trapped on the hillside.
With the help of locals, police personnel rescued the child from the ravine and transported him to the hospital via ambulance. Given the severity of the accident, teams from the Mussoorie Fire Service and the Dehradun SDRF also arrived at the scene.
The teams launched a rescue operation and reached the fallen motorcycle, where a man was found dead. He was extricated from the ravine after considerable effort. The deceased has been identified as Aswak Ahmed (40 years old), son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Adhoiwala, Dehradun. The injured is Faizan Ahmed (14 years old), the deceased’s son. Upon receiving the information, the families of both arrived at the scene. Police have taken possession of the body and initiated the necessary legal proceedings.
Locals reported that due to ongoing construction work along the road in the Galogi area, safety walls are incomplete at many places, increasing the risk of such accidents. Residents have demanded that the administration immediately install safety barriers and warning signs on the Mussoorie Road.
