The Central government has agreed to hold a 16-hour discussion in the Lok Sabha on Operation Sindoor and the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. While the debate is expected to take place next week, the opposition insists it should be held this week itself, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi responding personally.
According to sources, the government has cited the Prime Minister’s scheduled foreign visit this week as the reason for postponing the debate. Officials stated that the discussion can only take place when the Prime Minister is present in the House. When asked whether PM Modi will speak on the issue during the debate, government sources said that no decision has been made yet.
Ahead of this development, Prime Minister Modi held a meeting with his senior cabinet colleagues. Later, members of the ruling coalition convened to finalize the strategy for the upcoming debate.
