OROP: ₹16,925 Crore Disbursed to 25.20 Lakh Defence Pensioners Under OROP Scheme

The Ministry of Defence has disbursed ₹16,925.20 crore under the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme to 25.20 lakh eligible defence pensioners. Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth shared this information during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Responding to queries raised in the Rajya Sabha on July 28 by MP Dr. V. Sivadasan, the Minister confirmed that arrears under OROP-I and OROP-II have already been paid to all eligible personnel. Under OROP-II, pensions were revised, and payments made to 25.20 lakh pensioners.

Seth clarified that no separate budget head was allocated for these payments. Instead, funds were disbursed within the existing structure. By March 2024, ₹16,925.20 crore was released under OROP-II, and an additional ₹1,271.74 crore has been paid under OROP-III up to July 18, 2025.

Regarding pending arrears, the Minister stated that the figures are dynamic and are determined by the disbursing agency based on ongoing pension revisions of ex-servicemen.
