Uttarakhand – More than Rs 3.09 crore was transferred directly to beneficiary bank accounts under the Chief Minister Vatsalya Scheme. The amount was released through Direct Benefit Transfer by Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya.
After transferring the funds from her camp office, the minister said the scheme has been running since 2020 to support children who lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible children receive a monthly assistance of Rs 3,000 from the state government.
She informed that funds up to September had already been released earlier. For October, an amount of Rs 1 crore 55 lakh 31 thousand was transferred to 5,177 beneficiaries. For November, Rs 1 crore 54 lakh 41 thousand was credited to the accounts of 5,147 beneficiaries.
Officials said beneficiaries are removed from the scheme once they turn 21 years old. Girl beneficiaries also exit the scheme after marriage, while others are removed once they become employed.
Department Director Bansi Lal Rana, BJP leader Inder Rawat, CPO Anjana Gupta, and Deputy CPO Rajiv Nayan were present during the transfer process.
