Paragliding Facilities to Be Developed in Every District, Hostel to Be Built in Bhimtal

In a push to promote adventure tourism, the Uttarakhand government will develop paragliding infrastructure across all districts. Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Garbyal announced that paragliding take-off and landing zones will be identified and basic infrastructure will be created in every district to expand the scope of this sport.

Currently limited to Bhimtal and Tehri, paragliding activities will soon expand to locations such as Nayar Valley (Pauri), Lohaghat (Champawat), Mori (Uttarkashi), Kotabagh (Nainital), and Bageshwar.

To support training, a 20–25 bed hostel will be constructed in Bhimtal. Year-round paragliding training programs will be conducted there. So far, 141 trainees have received tandem and cross-country paragliding training. Further advanced training will be organized in Bhimtal and Champawat over the next six months. The department has also been directed to purchase new tandem paragliders.

To enhance accessibility and efficiency, a new mobile application will be developed to manage and promote paragliding training. Garbyal emphasized that adventure tourism will help generate employment opportunities for local youth.
