CM Dhami Announces Relief Package for Pauri Disaster Victims

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a relief package for disaster-affected families in Pauri, similar to the aid given in Dharali and Tharali. Families whose houses were completely destroyed will receive financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh, while the kin of the deceased will also be granted Rs 5 lakh each.

The CM said that part of the amount will be provided under SDRF norms, while the remaining will be disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He directed the administration to expedite the process and ensure timely assistance. On August 6, heavy rainfall triggered landslides in villages Sanji, Raidu, and surrounding areas in Pauri, causing severe damage to homes and farmland.

To study the causes of such recurring disasters in Himalayan regions, the CM has ordered an expert team to conduct a detailed survey. Specialists from the Geological Survey of India, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, National Institute of Hydrology, Central Water Commission, Irrigation Department, and Uttarakhand Landslide Mitigation Centre will visit Tharali. The team will study floods, landslides, and suggest preventive measures.

The CM stressed that the government stands firmly with all disaster-hit families. He praised the quick response of district administrations in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pauri and assured that both the state and central governments are committed to supporting affected people.
