Dehradun – A pickup vehicle fell nearly 220 meters into a deep gorge near Juddo Dam in Dehradun district on Tuesday, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured. Police and SDRF teams conducted a challenging rescue operation due to the difficult terrain and transported the injured man to the hospital.
According to police, the vehicle was returning towards Vikasnagar when it went out of control and plunged into the gorge. Two men were on board, including the driver. SDRF personnel from Dakpatthar post, led by Sub-Inspector Suresh Tomar, reached the spot and rescued the injured man using technical equipment. The deceased was identified as Rashid Ali, a resident of Vikasnagar, while the injured helper, Hukum, was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Police stated that the vehicle belonged to a tent house and both men were returning after completing arrangements for a wedding function. The deceased was also referred to as Rashid Ali alias Raju, aged 35, and was a resident of Madina Basti under Kotwali area. The injured man was initially treated at Vikasnagar Community Health Center and later referred to a higher medical facility. The driver’s body was handed over to the police for legal formalities, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
