Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Cyprus on Sunday as part of his official three-nation visit. He was warmly received at Larnaca International Airport by Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. During his stay from June 15–16, PM Modi attended the India-Cyprus CEO Forum and held bilateral talks. His next stop will be the G7 Summit in Canada on June 16–17, followed by a visit to Croatia.
Addressing the CEO Forum, PM Modi highlighted India’s economic rise over the past decade. “India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world and is rapidly moving towards becoming the third-largest,” he said. He emphasized that India is one of the fastest-growing economies globally, with a clear and stable economic policy.
Calling Cyprus a long-standing and trusted partner, Modi noted that the island nation is a gateway to Europe and has seen growing Indian investment. “Our bilateral trade has reached $150 million, but the real potential of our relationship is much greater,” he added.
Following his engagements in Cyprus, the Prime Minister will head to Canada to attend the G7 Summit in the Rocky Mountains, where leaders from the world’s most powerful economies will meet amid rising global tensions. The summit is expected to address escalating conflicts between Israel and Iran, and ongoing trade concerns involving former U.S. President Donald Trump.
