Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his Maharashtra visit today, to dedicate three state-of-the-art warships—INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vagsheer—to the nation. These vessels will enhance the Indian Navy’s strength while promoting the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
In a social media statement, PM Modi emphasized that these additions would boost India’s naval capabilities and self-reliance in defense.
INS Surat
INS Surat, the fourth and final guided-missile destroyer of the Project 15B class, is among the world’s most advanced destroyers. With 75% indigenous content, it boasts cutting-edge weapons, sensors, and advanced network-centric capabilities.
INS Nilgiri
INS Nilgiri is the first ship of the Project 17A stealth frigate series, designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau. Its advanced stealth technology, extended maritime capabilities, and superior combat features make it a standout addition.
