Tharoor Praises PM Modi’s Global Diplomacy Amid Rising Iran-Israel Tensions

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has once again praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global diplomatic efforts, calling his international activism a “major strength for India.” Tharoor’s comments come at a time when rising tensions between Israel and Iran have sparked global fears of an impending third world war.

Tharoor acknowledged that amidst escalating conflict in the Middle East, Modi’s proactive engagement on global platforms reflects India’s strategic position and strengthens its global standing. “PM Modi’s international outreach and diplomacy have undoubtedly made India more visible and respected on the world stage,” Tharoor noted.

Meanwhile, the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East is deepening. In response to recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, Russia has declared its full support for Tehran. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that Russia is prepared to provide any assistance Iran may require. He added that Moscow has already offered to mediate between the parties as a significant gesture of support.

Peskov emphasized that Russia’s vocal stance on the conflict itself is an important form of support for Iran. He also revealed that the issue of Iran was repeatedly discussed during recent talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow, Putin condemned the U.S. strikes on Iranian facilities. He described them as unnecessary and destabilizing. “These attacks are unjustified, and Russia stands with the people of Iran during this difficult time,” Putin affirmed.

With international tensions rising, India’s balanced foreign policy and Modi’s assertive diplomacy are being viewed by many global leaders—including those in the opposition—as key assets in maintaining regional and global equilibrium.
