PM Modi to Visit UK and Maldives in July; Will Attend Maldives Independence Celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on an official visit to the United Kingdom from July 23 to 24, marking his fourth visit to the country. After concluding the UK trip, he will proceed to the Maldives for a two-day visit from July 25 to 26 at the invitation of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

During his UK visit, PM Modi is expected to hold high-level discussions with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The leaders will deliberate on bilateral, regional, and global issues, including trade, innovation, climate change, education, defence, and strategic cooperation. PM Modi is also likely to meet King Charles to discuss the progress of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

In the Maldives, PM Modi will attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations on July 26 as the Chief Guest. This will be his third visit to the Maldives and the first by any foreign head of state since President Muizzu took office. Both leaders will engage in bilateral talks to review key agreements, particularly on economic cooperation and maritime security.

India and the Maldives had agreed on a joint economic and maritime security framework during President Muizzu’s visit to India in October 2024. The upcoming visit is expected to strengthen the growing partnership between the two nations.
