Rudrapur: The political atmosphere in Rudrapur is heating up ahead of the municipal elections. Former MLA Rajkumar Thukral, who had filed nominations for the mayoral post for himself and his brother Sanjay, met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt in Dehradun. During the 20-minute meeting, BJP urged Thukral to support its candidate, Vikas Sharma.
While there was no discussion on Thukral rejoining the BJP, this seat has become a matter of prestige for the party. Vikas Sharma is considered close to the Chief Minister. Confirming the meeting, Thukral stated that he would return to Rudrapur to consult with his supporters before making any further decisions.
