Security forces launched a large-scale search operation in the Chhambar Kinari area of the Saujiyan sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district’s Mandi tehsil on Saturday morning after receiving reports of suspicious activity near the border.
According to sources, the joint operation involving Poonch Police, Special Operations Group (SOG), Army, and CRPF was initiated after movement was detected near the LoC. The operation, led by Additional SP Mohan Sharma, has deployed hundreds of security personnel to comb the region.
Officials suspect that the recent cross-border shelling by the Pakistani Army in the Poonch region may have been an attempt to facilitate infiltration of terrorists into Indian territory. As a result, forces have been placed on high alert along the LoC.
