Project ‘Nanda-Sunanda’ Empowers Girls, DM Provides Financial Assistance to Three Beneficiaries

Dehradun – Under the ‘Nanda-Sunanda’ project, initiated with inspiration from the Chief Minister, financial aid is being provided to underprivileged and needy girls for their education in Dehradun. On Monday, District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal distributed cheques worth ₹98,815 to three girls at the Collectorate premises. So far, 13 girls have received a total financial assistance of ₹4.41 lakh under this initiative. The DM emphasized that this project is not just an administrative responsibility but also a moral duty and a noble cause.

Ensuring Maximum Outreach for the Scheme

The DM directed officials to ensure that every eligible, underprivileged, and needy girl in the district benefits from this scheme. The scheme is being implemented through the Women and Child Development, Social Welfare, and Child Welfare Departments. Beneficiaries are selected via public grievance camps, multi-purpose camps, the District Probation Officer, the District Social Welfare Officer, and Anganwadi workers. Besides education, the project aims to integrate these girls into mainstream society.

Financial Aid for Education

During the event, three girls received financial assistance for their studies:

  • Prachi Maurya (B.Sc. 4th Semester) – ₹72,740
  • Aradhya (Class 3) – ₹14,600
  • Poorvi Virmani (Class 1) – ₹11,475

DM Bansal mentioned that he initiated the ‘Nanda-Sunanda’ project while serving as the District Magistrate of Nainital, where 60 girls benefited from it. In Dehradun, 11 girls have received financial aid under this scheme so far.

The event was attended by Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, DPO (ICDS) Jitendra Kumar, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, other officials, and the families of the beneficiaries.
