Public Park to Be Developed at Rashtrapati Bhawan

Dehradun’s iconic Rashtrapati Bhawan called Ashiana and Upvan Vatika on Rajpur Road is set to open its gates to the public. The proposal to transform the restricted 132-acre farm land into a multi-theme public park has received approval from the Rashtrapati Bhavan Secretariat.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal had earlier presented the concept for the park, designed along the lines of London’s Hyde Park, during a meeting with the President’s Secretary in January. Recently, a detailed discussion was held with representatives from the Hotel Association, tour operators, NGOs, and community groups to incorporate local suggestions for the project.

A Landmark Project for Uttarakhand
The proposed park will offer world-class amenities, promoting greenery, health, and cultural activities. Essential infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water, traffic management, parking, communication facilities, and security will also be developed.

Public participation is key to this project. Citizens can share their suggestions by filling out a feedback form available on the Rashtrapati Bhavan website.

Foundation Ceremony and Timeline
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to lay the park’s foundation stone on June 20, with the completion targeted for 2026. Upon completion, the park will be dedicated to the people of Uttarakhand, offering them a recreational space of international standards.
