Punjab Floods: Schools, Colleges and Universities Shut Till September 7

Punjab continues to reel under heavy rains and floods, with over 1,200 villages across all 23 districts affected. The state government has declared Punjab as disaster-hit and announced the closure of all government, aided, recognized, and private schools, colleges, universities, and polytechnics till 7 September 2025. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains confirmed the decision on Wednesday.

Bains wrote on social media that the move was taken under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, urging people to strictly follow local administration guidelines. Meanwhile, CM Mann said Punjab has always stood with the nation during crises, and now he expects the nation to stand with Punjab. He also mentioned receiving calls from the Prime Minister and Home Minister, who inquired about the situation.
