Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Flags Off Pilgrim Group to Gangotri Dham

Uttarakhand – Under the state’s Matri-Pitri Teerthatan Yojana, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off a group of 32 devotees for a five-day pilgrimage to Gangotri Dham from Haldwani Circuit House on Tuesday. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey to all participants.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami said that the Matri-Pitri Teerthatan Yojana aims to provide senior citizens with an opportunity to visit sacred pilgrimage sites and experience spiritual peace and joy. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare and respect of elderly citizens, enabling them to connect with their faith without financial or logistical constraints.

The pilgrimage group consists of 19 women and 13 men who will visit Gangotri Dham along with other significant religious destinations on the route. Accommodation and food arrangements have been made at Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam’s tourist rest houses to ensure comfort and convenience for the pilgrims throughout the journey.

Several dignitaries were present at the flag-off ceremony, including MLAs Banshidhar Bhagat (Kaladhungi) and Ram Singh Kaida (Bhimtal), BJP District President Pratap Bisht, Commissioner of Kumaon Division Deepak Rawat, Inspector General Riddhim Aggarwal, and other public representatives and officials.
