The hearing in the defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, related to his alleged objectionable remarks about Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has been postponed. The MP-MLA special court magistrate, Shubham Verma, rescheduled the next hearing for January 30 to allow further cross-examination of BJP leader Vijay Mishra.
The case dates back to 2018, when Rahul Gandhi was accused of making controversial statements against Amit Shah during an event in Bengaluru. BJP leader Vijay Mishra, a former chairman of the district cooperative bank, filed a defamation complaint at the Kotwali Dehat police station in Rae Bareli on August 4, 2018.
On Wednesday, the cross-examination was deferred due to a lawyers’ strike. The case will now proceed later this month.
