Raja Raghuvanshi Murder: Plot to Kill Woman and Falsely Declare Her as Sonam

In a disturbing twist in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Meghalaya Police revealed that the accused had allegedly planned to murder an unidentified woman and pass off her body as that of Sonam, in order to help her disappear and live a secret life.

Vivek Syiem, SP of Shillong, disclosed that one of the conspirators is Raja’s cousin. He clarified that this was not a contract killing but a crime committed by friends who were trying to help Raj by eliminating Raja. The planning reportedly began in February, with the intent to free Sonam from Raja’s influence. When they failed to delay the wedding, they convinced Sonam to accompany Raja to Kamakhya Devi Temple in Assam — where he was ultimately murdered.

All five accused are currently in police custody and were interrogated separately for the third consecutive day on Friday.

Raja’s Brother Demands Narco Test for Raj and Sonam
Satyendra Raghuwanshi, elder brother of the victim, has called for a narco test of both Raj and Sonam. He alleges that both are blaming each other as the mastermind to mislead investigators. “They are working together to divert the investigation,” he said.

Sonam Stayed Hidden in Indore for 14 Days
Following the murder, Sonam went into hiding at a flat in Indore’s Dewas Naka area. The flat was rented by accused Vishal Singh Chauhan, who told the landlord that he urgently needed accommodation due to a dispute with his current landlord. The landlord, Shilom James, confirmed that after completing formalities including ID and rent payment, the flat was handed over.

Sonam reportedly stayed in Indore from May 25 to June 8, splitting her time between a hotel and the rented flat.
