Naxalism Now Limited to Just 5-6 Districts in India: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday stated that Naxalism in India is now confined to only five to six districts, and the government is committed to eradicating it completely by March 31, 2026. He made these remarks during an event in Hyderabad marking the 128th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh emphasized that areas once notorious for Naxal activities are now transforming into centres of education and development. “The Red Corridor is rapidly turning into a Growth Corridor,” he said.

Firm Deadline to End Naxalism

The Defence Minister added that the Central Government has set a firm target to make the country completely free of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) by the end of the 2025–26 financial year. He credited sustained security operations and development initiatives for the sharp decline in Naxal-affected areas.

Comment on ‘Operation Sindoor’

During his speech, Rajnath Singh also referenced Operation Sindoor, conducted recently in Pakistan, stating that the operation was precisely targeted against terrorist camps and did not harm any civilian or military infrastructure. He warned that any future attack like the Pahalgam incident would invite a strong and decisive response from India.

Tribute to Alluri Sitarama Raju

Paying homage to the revolutionary Alluri Sitarama Raju, Singh described him as a true patriot and warrior whose sacrifice during the freedom struggle continues to inspire the youth of India.
