In a move to immortalize the legacy of the Ram Mandir movement, key buildings and facilities within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex will now be named after prominent leaders of the temple movement. This decision was taken during the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s meeting held on March 7, where trustees agreed to honor those who played vital roles in the long struggle to build the temple.
Structures including auditoriums, rest houses, pilgrim service centers, and cultural buildings within the temple campus will bear the names of these revered figures. The complex, which already has four entry gates set to be named after Jagadgurus, will now also reflect the contributions of key temple movement icons.
Mahant Ramsharan Das praised the decision as an emotional and historic tribute that will preserve the memory of the movement’s leaders and serve as a source of inspiration for future generations. He emphasized that the temple will now stand not only as a place of devotion but also as a living testament to struggle, sacrifice, and resolution.
Mahant Nritya Gopal Das: Temple Symbolizes Social Harmony
Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, who recently visited the temple complex, said that the completion of the temple is the fulfillment of devotees’ long-standing dedication. Describing it as a unifying force in society, he visited the sanctum and other structures including the Sapt Mandapam and perimeter temples.
Key Naming Decisions:
- Ashok Singhal Auditorium: A 500-seat auditorium on the southern side of the complex will be named after Ashok Singhal, the VHP strategist who played a central role in mobilizing public support for the Ram Mandir. The structure is expected to be completed by April 2026.
- Baba Abhiram Das Entrance Gate: The entrance of the newly built pilgrim facility center will be named after Baba Abhiram Das, credited with placing the idol of Ram Lalla inside the disputed structure on the night of December 22–23, 1949.
- Mahant Avaidyanath Pilgrim Facility Center: Situated on the Ram Lalla Darshan path, this center is named after Mahant Avaidyanath, a significant contributor to the temple movement and spiritual mentor to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
- Ramchandra Das Paramhans Pilgrim Service Center: Named after the first president of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, Ramchandra Das Paramhans, under whose leadership the first foundation stone of the temple was laid on November 9, 1989.
