Dehradun — The month-long Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025 concluded in Dehradun with a strong call to build a ‘Suposhit Bharat’ by 2047, focusing on nutrition awareness, women’s empowerment, and behavioural change across communities.
Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur attended the closing ceremony at the Himalayan Cultural Centre as the chief guest. The event also saw the presence of Uttarakhand’s Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi, and senior officials from the central and state governments.
Thakur said that the Poshan Abhiyaan has become a people’s movement dedicated to ensuring that every mother and child in India receives adequate nutrition. “Nutrition is not merely a programme; it is our moral responsibility as a nation. When every household’s plate is balanced, the nation becomes stronger,” she said.
She highlighted that the Poshan Maah this year saw active participation from both men and women, reinforcing shared responsibility for family health. Thakur also praised the role of Anganwadi workers in bringing change at the grassroots level and urged citizens to adopt healthy food habits and support local products.
Officials informed that over 10 crore beneficiaries are receiving nutritional support through 14 lakh Anganwadi centres nationwide, managed under Mission Poshan 2.0. More than 13 lakh Anganwadi workers have been equipped with smartphones linked to the Poshan Tracker App, which enables real-time data collection and transparent delivery of nutritional services.
According to National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) data, India has shown a notable decline in malnutrition — stunting has reduced from 38.4% to 35.5%, and underweight prevalence from 35.8% to 32.1%. Officials said that over two lakh Anganwadi centres are being upgraded into ‘Saksham Anganwadi Centres’, equipped with digital tools, safe drinking water, and learning materials for children.
Union Minister Thakur also interacted with Anganwadi workers and local producers who showcased millet-based items at an exhibition organized by the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development. During the event, she felicitated Poshan Champions and transferred ₹1.56 crore to 5,211 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Uttarakhand Minister Rekha Arya said that nutrition for children and mothers is the foundation of a “golden India,” while Minister Ganesh Joshi highlighted the importance of millets in improving nutrition and strengthening local agriculture.
The 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, held under the theme ‘Healthy Women, Strong Families,’ focused on mindful eating, early childhood care, and local food promotion. Officials said the campaign will continue through upgraded Anganwadi centres and digital tracking, aiming to make India a well-nourished and self-reliant nation by 2047.
