In Dehradun, the annual Ravan Dahan event organized by the Bannu Biradari Dussehra Committee’s Bal Yuva Sangh will take place at the Parade Ground’s sports field this year. While the size of the Ravan effigy has decreased, the Lanka has grown bigger. Last year, a 131-foot-tall effigy of Ravan was burnt at the Parade Ground. This year, the committee has planned to burn a 55-foot-tall Ravan effigy along with Lanka. As always, a grand procession will precede the event. The effigy has been specially crafted in Delhi for the occasion. Santokh Singh Nagpal, President of the Bannu Biradari Bal Yuva Sangh, announced that the 55-foot-tall Ravan effigy will be set ablaze on October 12 at the Parade Ground.
In addition to Ravan, effigies of Kumbhkaran and Meghnath will also be burnt, along with the symbolic Lanka. Prior to the burning ceremony, a procession will be held starting from Shri Gopinath Temple, passing through Paltan Bazaar, Ghantaghar, and Ashley Hall before concluding at the Parade Ground.

The procession will feature beautiful tableaux, along with the Nasik Band, drums, DJ chariots, and more. This year, the Ravan effigy was crafted in Delhi, while the Lanka is being prepared locally by a young team. Committee members such as General Secretary Harish Dora, Prem Bhatia, Bhimsen Virmani, Ramesh Khanijo, Yogesh Vyas, Amit Kapoor, Rajendra Singh Dhillon, Sunil Sharma, Bharat Ahuja, and Sanjeev Vij were also present during the event announcement.
Due to time constraints, the height of the Ravan effigy has been significantly reduced this year. Santokh Nagpal explained that the Dussehra festival was organized on short notice this time, which led to several changes compared to previous years. Creating the effigy in a short period proved challenging, prompting the committee to commission it from Delhi.
