Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government has announced significant relief for employees retiring on June 30 and December 31. These retirees will now receive a notional increment added to their last drawn salary, which will enhance their pension. Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar issued the official order on Tuesday.
This benefit, based on the Uttarakhand High Court’s April 11, 2023, ruling, will also apply to those who retired on these dates before 2023. However, the notional increment will not affect other retirement benefits, and no arrears will be paid.
Under the proposal, employees retiring on June 30 and December 31 will be entitled to increments that would have been due on January 1 and July 1, respectively. The pension will be calculated based on this revised salary.
Employee Organizations Demand Retrospective Application
Welcoming the decision, employee organizations have demanded its implementation from 2006. State Employees Joint Council President Arun Pandey and General Secretary Shakti Prasad Bhatt highlighted that while the Uttar Pradesh government has provided this benefit since 2006, Uttarakhand’s order is effective only from 2023.
