New Delhi, January 25, 2025 – On the occasion of Republic Day 2025, the central government announced gallantry and service medals for 942 personnel from police, fire services, home guards, civil defense, and corrective services. Among them, five posthumous gallantry awards were conferred upon Himayun Muzaffar (Jammu and Kashmir Police), Girijesh Kumar Udde (BSF), Sunil Kumar Pandey (CRPF), Ravi Sharma (SSB), and Satish Kumar Raina (Selection Grade Fireman).
This year, the honors include 95 gallantry medals, 101 President’s Police Medals, and 746 Meritorious Service Medals (MSM). The gallantry awards recognize acts of extraordinary courage, including safeguarding lives and property, crime prevention, and apprehending criminals.
Of the 95 gallantry medals, 28 were awarded to personnel from Naxal-affected regions, 28 from Jammu and Kashmir, three from the Northeast, and 36 from other areas. These include 78 from police services and 17 from fire services.
The President’s Police Medal was awarded to 101 personnel, comprising 85 from police services, five from fire services, seven from civil defense and home guards, and four from corrective services. Additionally, 746 personnel received Meritorious Service Medals, including 634 from police services, 37 from fire services, 39 from civil defense, and 36 from corrective services.
These awards honor the bravery, dedication, and exemplary service of personnel who have significantly contributed to the nation’s safety and well-being.
