Rishikesh: As part of the ‘Swachh Rishikesh, Sundar Rishikesh’ initiative, the Rishikesh Municipal Corporation has introduced an innovative program called “Swachhta Pathshala.” This program aims to involve all schools in Rishikesh in the city’s cleanliness and awareness activities. To support these efforts, ₹10,000 has been allocated to each secondary school, while upper primary schools have been granted ₹5,000.
Schools are organizing various co-curricular activities under the Swachh Bharat Mission and other national programs. These activities include general knowledge quizzes, art competitions, debates, essay writing, and wall painting. Community meetings and voluntary cleanliness drives (shramdaan) are also part of the initiative.
At the Government Junior High School on Dehradun Road, and Rishikesh Public School, students have been painting walls near the school, creating murals that promote cleanliness and inspire local residents to contribute to a more beautiful Rishikesh.

The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to individuals and organizations to support this initiative by providing financial or material assistance to schools. This contribution will not only foster children’s creativity but also play a crucial role in enhancing the cleanliness and beauty of the city.
